10 Songs for your Fall Playlist

Posted: October 30, 2020 by Elizabeth Tackett

I don’t know about you, but I listen to a lot of music throughout my day. I’m one of those people who always has a music humming in the background whether it’s a playlist, an album, or the classical radio station.

Having two degrees in music, I guess it makes sense!

I enjoy listening to some music year round while other songs or albums are seasonal.

As I was thinking about this past year, I realized I’ve never created a seasonal playlist. I’ve made playlists for genres or for specific people, but never for the specific season of fall, winter, spring or summer.

So I decided to create one.

It has been really fun putting together songs I like, thinking about the type of music I listen to during the day, and sifting through songs that “feel” like fall (when you know, you know).

Now, the songs I suggest are going to be a wide variety. Some people like instrumental, others like songs with words. Others still might not like any of these songs.

And that’s why I want to encourage you to make your own playlist for the season of fall/autumn. Even if this isn’t your type of music, I hope it encourages you to start gathering the music that makes you take a deep breath, helps you pause, and encourages you throughout your day.

Without further adieu, here it is:

10 songs for your fall playlist:

Instrumental Songs

I’ve gathered these instrumental pieces from several different genres: classical, Irish, modern acoustic guitar, etc. I hope you enjoy them!

1. The Velveteen Rabbit – George Winston

2. Ellie Goes West – Flook

3. The Morning Instruments – Alan Gogoll

4. All Things Bright and Beautiful – Craig Duncan

5. Calliope House/The Cowboy Jig – Alasdair Fraser

Songs with Words

Some of these songs I’ve come back to year after year and others are new additions this year. The lyrics of each of these are beautifully crafted, and I hope bring you a sense of cozy and nostalgia.

6. Arthur McBride – Andy Irvine & Paul Brady

7. Hello My Old Heart – The Oh Hellos

8. Winter Song – The Head and the Heart

9. Half Acre – Hem

10. ‘Tis Autumn – Nat King Cole Trio

If you liked the songs above, I’ve linked to my full fall playlist here in case you want to check it out.

Leave me a comment and let me know what’s on your fall playlist!
